Ironjawz Army!

So I have been meaning to do this post since December last year… I’m terrible I know, but anyway, I got a new Warhammer army for Christmas!

Let me introduce you to the Ironjawz! An awesome, badass army of Orruks,!

Ironjawz

They are currently built and sprayed in my parents conservatory and I started painting them on Sunday, I’m doing the classic yellow armour with bits of red thrown in on some of the little details, Arran has done the spraying for me, I decided on white as the undercoat as I think it will help bring out the yellow much better than if we sprayed them in black, so far its working!

Here is a pic of them all sprayed and ready to paint!

Ironjawz1

We have also already had a few battles with them, against Skaven and Dwarves, so far they have kicked ass and won all but one fight, it’s great! I’m not used to winning this much, however Arran has now bought a new army, the Kharadron Overlords, heres hoping that the Ironjawz can still hold their own against them!

These guys are also so much different to my Dark Elf army, I’m loving them, I have so much more motivation to paint them, I think it’s because they are so different and much more colourful, don’t get me wrong I still love my Dark Elves, I just needed a bit of a break from them as I was lacking the motivation to paint them!

So yes! watch this space, these Ironjawz are going to look awesome when they are finished and lets hope they can keep up their winning streak and destroy their new opponents!!

Animal Crossing New Leaf: R.I.P Dracwyn…

Animal Crossing is a game that I love, I was pretty late to the party and only started playing it 2 years ago, but, in the last 2 years of playing I have grown to absolutely love the game.

For those of you who don’t know the game you are basically the mayor of a town full of animals, you can have up to 10 animal villagers and 4 player characters, you run the town as your Mayor making friends with the villagers who live there and building public works projects to enhance and customize your town.

My first ever town was called Dracwyn, I loved this town and had some awesome villagers over the course that I played it including:

  • Flora
  • Beau
  • Willow
  • Quillson
  • Limberg
  • Poppy
  • Pekoe
  • Phil
  • Drago

Some of my favourites, but eventually it came time to move on, as this was my first town I didn’t really know what I was doing properly, I didn’t put much thought into what i wanted the layout of my map to be like and I didnt really put much thought into how I wanted my town to look once it was fully developed and as such ended up plonking projects willy nilly, over the last few months I really grew bored of this town, I lacked inspiration for it and just sort of stopped playing the game, so, I decided it was time to say goodbye to Dracwyn and start a new life in a new town and so Mirabar was born! But, I will leave that for another post!

Here are some happy memories from Dracwyn…

I loved this little town and the villagers in it, but it was definitely time to move on…

R.I.P Dracwyn…

Hearthstone!

So I recently got back into Hearthstone, what with all this free time I have after I’ve finished all my housework… Ok that’s probably not entirely true, it’s more a case of get up play some games of Hearthstone and then force myself to do the housework…

Anyway, it has been such a long time since I last played that all of my decks which were goodish are now crap and there have been so many card changes in the game since i last played that I am super behind, so the last few days i have been playing loads to try and up my gold ready for the new expansion when it comes out, no idea when that will be but it has been rumored so hopefully it’ll be soon and we all know when we get a new expansion we get cards to go with it, so the plan is save a ton of gold, get the expansion and some cards, be good again…. HA!

My favourite classes to play are definitely Mage and Paladin, these are what I played most when I used to play WoW… I’m a bit of a nerd you see and Blizzard make great games, what can I say!
Mage is also something I used to play a lot of in D&D, I like my blaster casters, they are so much fun to play, especially fire sorcerers… LOVE them!

I have been doing kinda Ok, I mean I’m not losing every single game, but, I’m also not winning every single game either, it’s still fun though, completing the quests, getting the gold etc. it’s a good time sink too, I can literally spend hours just playing game after game without realising, I guess that is the sign of a good game right?

Anyone got any good recommendations for games? I need some variety as much as I love Hearthstone!

Some pics from recent games playing Druid, a class I am starting to love 😀

Global Games Jam Day 3: Tools Down!

That’s it guys, we are done! Games Jam 2016 is over for another year! We did good, very good!

I’m proud of our game it looks awesome and is fun, sadly we are missing a level as we ran out of time and couldn’t get it working, fortunately though we have two fully working levels and an awesome gameplay video 😃

Here it is!

http://youtu.be/xCMmGiOHCDk
Nick and Tim were on Tech, I did Gameplay and Art, Pinky did Audio, Video and Art, Mariah did Art and UI and Luke did Audio and put together our Game Jam game page, he also helped out with the gameplay elements!

It’s been a great weekend but my god am I ready for some sleep!

Now it’s time to tidy up, visit Gillys team and get ready for the presentation in half an hour!

So on that note, I shall say goodbye for the day, see you all in the next post!

Global Games Jam Day 2: Origami Dragons & Sneak Peeks!!

Today has been a long and tiring day, we have however got a lot done, we now only have one level left to implement which hopefully will be done either late tonight or tomorrow morning nice and early!

I do have a sneak peek of our game for you guys though!

This is part of the first level of our game, Cooking With Cthulhu!

Let me know what you guys think! 😃

Also I mentioned the other day that I would be making an origami mascot… Well it’s taken me two days and about five attempts but here he is…. Mushu the origami dragon!

Mushu ❤️

Games Jam is a great but very tiring experience, if you’ve ever done it you will know that sleep deprivation kicks in pretty quick and when it comes to 5pm on the Sunday everyone is more than ready to go home, but like I said it is a ton of fun and definitely something to experience at least once!

Tomorrow is the last day and it’s tools down at 3pm so it’s going to be a very early start tomorrow, but, I cannot wait to see our game when it’s finished 😄

For now though it is goodnight and I shall see you all tomorrow!

Global Games Jam Day 2: Pixel Art & Snacks

Today is day 2!

All is going really well so far, hopefully I don’t jinx it by saying this but I reckon maybe we will be finished early, we have one level of three complete already and all the art is pretty much done, we just have to sort our menu, intro and get everything together in engine and we are done! Our scope has been much more appropriate this year as well so it has felt a lot more relaxed which is nice!

I’ve been working on a cauldron, it’s been a long time since I’ve done any 2D/Pixel Art but I’m pretty pleased with how it’s turned out 😄

Original Cauldron!

It has taken me most of yesterday evening and about half of today to get to a point where I was completely happy with it, I also have a couple variations of it which are now all finished!

Cauldrons finished!

I think it looks awesome!

We have tons of other art assets that are now finished as well and they are all amazing! Can’t wait to see how this game looks when it’s finished!

Anyway, I’m gunna go upload a sneak peek of our game to YouTube now and then I shall share it with you all!

Also incase any of you were wondering, our game is called Cooking With Cthulu!

It’s gruesome and awesome!

Anyway, I am actually going now, I’ll post again later! 😃

Global Games Jam Day 1: Theme Revealed!

So I’m actually posting this on day 2 cause yesterday we weren’t allowed to talk about the theme on any kind of social media, purely because Hawaii are the last ones to start and so it would be unfair to ruin the surprise for them!

So then, the theme… It’s a very interesting one this year, better than the last one I think, quite a lot of cool ideas floating around this year!

However, Hawaii are now well into their Jam, so the theme for 2016 is….. *drum roll* ….. RITUAL!

Interesting yes? 😄

We are going with a demon summoning ritual, think the game cooking mama but with Cthulu as the chef and human body parts as the ingredients! Gruesome I know, but it is funny!

I’m currently working on a cauldron, I can’t draw with a mouse it’s incredibly hard but I’m slowly getting better, and it’s starting to come together, I’m pretty pleased with it as its really the first proper piece of pixel art I’ve ever done!

Anyway, I shall return to work now and I’ll post an update later!

Busy Day!

Sup Guys!

Been a while since I blogged from my PC, got my music blasting and sat here in my pj’s getting into the party mood cause IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!

Yep, today I turn 26 :0….. Feels so old!

So far its been pretty chilled but it is only 20 to 12, things will get super hectic later, cause it’s also GLOBAL GAMES JAM this weekend!!! which I am super excited for!

I will be blogging about GGJ all weekend so you guys will be getting sneak peeks of our game and insight into everything else going on, so make sure you keep an eye out! My Games Jam mini series was a bit of a hit last year, and I cant wait to blog it all again this year! I will probably do multiple posts a day cause there will be so much to talk about and many pictures to share with you all 😀

Anyway, back to my birthday! Even though I think I’m actually more excited for GGJ than I am my birthday 😛

I’m considering treating myself to a new iPad with my birthday money… should I? I mean the one I have now has lasted me 5 years, I bought that with my birthday money just before I started uni I think, and its been struggling a bit lately, might be time to retire it 😛

The problem though as you get older the stuff you want becomes more expensive, and there’s not a lot of it, all I want really is practical things, a dishwasher and tumble dryer would be lovely but sadly I live in a student house so I cant really do that 😛 now I sound really old! 😛

But yeah, I’m super excited for tonight’s Birthday/Games Jam celebrations!

If you’re Jamming this weekend, let me know where you are in the comments, and how long you’ve been doing it, this will be my second one and I will be on social media all weekend feel free to check out my Twitter and Instagram, one of my friends will also be Vlogging all weekend so I will at some point get a link to his channel and share that with you guys too, for now, those of you jamming this weekend, HAPPY JAMMING!

Sarah 😀

I will be blogging all weekend like I did last year so make sure you keep an eye out, they will be sneak peeks of our game and plenty of pics throughout the weekend 😄

So yeah I am super hyped for Games Jam this year, it’s going to be a great weekend!

If you don’t know what Global Games Jam is, here is a short description for you 🙂

G
lobal Games Jam!

This is an annual event that happens all over the world, teams of aspiring games designers and none games designers get together to spend a weekend designing and creating a game, we are given a theme to follow but it’s pretty loose and then we are let loose for the weekend to literally make any kind of game our imaginations can come up with. There are tons of different sites that the event is held at but my local one, the one I went to last year is at Staffordshire University.

Here’s a link to the website, go check it out if you’re interested!

E3 So Far…

Sup Guys!

So E3 is in full swing now! its great, I’ve watched some of it live but most of it I will be catching up on the day after, mainly cause im just too old to stay up til 3am watching it, I will probably die of tiredness the next day 😛

Anyways I’m gonna talk about some of my favourite things so far,

I watched the Bethesda conference on YouTube yesterday and my god! it is amazing, if you haven’t seen it go check it out here!

I’m definitely sold and excited about Fallout 4 now!! it looks amazing, the world looks so pretty, the character customization is awesome and allows you to build an even more unique looking character, also the most awesome thing is that you get to play a bit in the pre war world! oh man am I looking forward to that! 😀

I am totally 100% sold on Fallout 4 now, I will be buying it, in fact I even want the Pip Boy edition, oh yeah! £100 take my money Bethesda and give me that Pip Boy!!! *drools*

Here’s a Fallout 4 gameplay trailer for you guys!

What do you think?

I’ve been watching the Twitch live stream during the day though, its pretty good, check it out 😀

The Microsoft conference was also pretty cool, there were some pretty awesome looking Xbox exclusives announced, these have seriously made me consider buying an Xbox One as well as a PS4, I thought the Rare collection looked awesome, all the games that Rare have done on one disc, more or less, and I also really like the look of a Pirate game that they announced, I love pirates! One day I shall become a pirate, sail my awesome ship around the world and stop off at cool isalnds! 😀

Recore also looked like a really artistic awesome game!

AND!!!! HOLOLENS!! Oh my god! that looks absolutely amazing! Seriously! watch the video! I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am for this!! Especially if it works! Damn Microsoft have taken gaming to a whole new level and I have never been happier to be a part of this awesome industry 😀

Don’t tell me that isn’t fucking cool! 😀

There has also been a lot of love for Mobile gaming this year! Which I love, hopefully one day this is the section of the games industry I will go into, but anyway, a lot of big companies have been announcing stuff for mobile, Bethesda for example, released Fallout Shelter….

Of course I went ahead and downloaded it straight away 😀

I have yet to play it though, seeing as I am writing this post on Monday, but I will probably have played it on the train today and I’m sure it is damn awesome!

Microsoft have definitely done really well at E3 this year, so many exciting announcements, their games, their new controller (which looks damn cool btw), the Hololens, backwards compatibility and loads of other things!

Sony better have something just as awesome if not better to announce! We want backwards compatibility too Sony!!!

Anyway, I’m gonna go enjoy the rest of Mondays E3, I shall do a full post about it all when I get back from Nicks 😀

Hope you all have a great week!
