The Mummy Diaries: The Nursery Is Finished!

It is finally finished, clothes are all washed, pictures are hung, Moses basket is here and the room is tidy!

It’s not a very big room but it will do, baby will mostly be in my bedroom for the first few months anyway so it’s not like he will need a ton of space. We did it fairly neutral although I have sort of gone with a bit of an animal theme, I like animals and baby’s like animals so why not, also that way I get to add colours to the room subtly without making the room look smaller by using bright colours on the walls!

Here are some pics!

His cot is mine from when I was a baby and has just been repainted and had a new mattress bought for it, the pictures on the wall my mom made for us and the colourful door knobs I painted myself, so a lot of effort and love has gone into it and I think it looks pretty damn good!!

Anyone else decorated their nursery with mostly handmade/hand me down items?

The Mummy Diaries: Baby Shower!

So it’ll have been 3 weeks tomorrow since my baby shower 😱 I definitely planned on writing this post a lot sooner than now but I have been super busy with baby stuff!

Anyway, my baby shower! It was a great day, if not a little overwhelming but I still had a ton of fun and am very thankful to all of my family and friends who came to celebrate with me! Baby boy got lots of lovely pressies, more clothes than he will ever need and I even got a couple of presents too! Which I wasn’t expecting πŸ˜›

My baby shower was at my parents house as it is a lot bigger than my flat, my mom organised it and my sister and Arran’s mom bought the decorations. It was such a good day, my mom organised some quizzes and a few other games like pin the dummy on the baby and we had a guess how many jelly babies are in the jar too, definitely one of the most fun days I’ve had in a long time! However, I’m not one for being the centre of attention so it was rather overwhelming for me too, having everyone watching me opening presents and just having everyone there to celebrate me and the baby was crazy, I definitely slept well that night cause I was just physically and mentally exhausted!! Still a ton of fun and for anyone who’s thinking of having one I would definitely recommend it, its a great way to get all of your family together!

We had about 25 guests but I didn’t take many pics during the day cause I was just so busy and distracted but here are a few 😊

And some pics of the lovely gifts we received!

So yeah overall it was an awesome day! and now I only have just over 5 weeks to go til my due date!!!

Excited and scared!

Moving House… Again!

It’s official, we are moving house, again, for the 2nd time in a year, but hey needs must right, where we currently live is not big enough for us and a baby, it’s also not in the greatest of areas to be honest, It’s Ok for just the two of us but I wouldn’t want to bring a kid up around here really.

So yeah, we are officially moving home on the 8th of April, we plan to live with my parents for a while so that we can save up some money and afford something bigger and in a nicer area, also we will have the support of all of my family around us to help out with the baby as and when we need it, which lets face it, we will need it at some point!

I gave our landlord our months notice on the 14th of March, so now we gotta get packing, there is so much to do now before baby makes his appearance, here is my To Do list for the next 5-10 weeks:

  • Pack
  • Move House
  • Clean
  • Unpack
  • Wash all of the baby clothes
  • Steralise bottles & dummies
  • Put together a Chest of Drawers
  • Put away baby clothes in size order
  • Buy any last minute things we still need
  • Pick baby’s coming home outfit
  • Pack baby’s hospital bag
  • Pack my hospital bag
  • Get my nails done

Most of this I won’t be able to do though until we move back in April, by then I will have 1-5 weeks to get it all done… that is not scary at all… that is also a lie, oh jeez!!

Are we crazy for moving house this late?!

Happy Pancake Day! πŸ₯ž

Happy Pancake Day guys!

Who’s having pancakes? I’m having some for pudding later, normally we would make American style pancakes cause they are so good but I feel like today should be for our lovely skinny English pancakes! I also enjoy flipping them… in the flipping master… maybe not but still it’s fun 😁

I don’t do lent though, especially not this year, though maybe I should give up biscuits… I don’t think that’s gunna happen though to be honest 😝

Anyone giving anything up for lent? And what kinda pancakes do you prefer? English or American?

HAPPY PANCAKE DAY EVERYONE πŸ₯žπŸ₯ž

Happy Valentines Day! ❀️

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Hope you all have something fun planned wether you’re going out or staying in, are in a relationship or single! Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be just for couples, if you’re single then you should totally use today as an excuse to treat yourself to something you love! I mean why not!

Me and Arran celebrated Valentine’s Day on Sunday, we went for a lovely meal at Bella Italia 😊 so tonight we are staying in with a box of chocolates and a movie!

Hope you all have a great day and night! 😘

Finding Out To Now (28 Weeks) πŸ‘ΆπŸ»πŸΌ

So as my second trimester draws to a close I am finally on the home stretch! I am so excited, I have enjoyed being pregnant mostly but I can’t wait to finally meet our little dude! I have been imagining what he might look like and what his personality might be and I am just so ready to finally meet him!

Right now though I’m going to write down how I’ve felt over these last two trimesters, I should probably have done it sooner when it was all clearer in my mind but hey ho I feel like I can remember it pretty well…

Trimester 1, I missed a fair few weeks of this trimester cause I had no idea I was pregnant! I got a positive test on the 20th of September last year, which really doesn’t seem that far away! That would have made me 7 +1 weeks pregnant, some people are lucky/unlucky (depending on how you look at it) and find out at like 1/2 weeks, I couldn’t handle that I’m too impatient, waiting til 12 weeks would have felt like a millennia! Anyway, the thing that was hardest for me during this trimester was the food aversions and constant nausea, literally everything I ate made me feel sick and when I wasn’t feeling sick I was constantly exhausted and had no appetite, so it wasn’t great but I muddled through on toast and really bland food! I started feeling baby move around 14 weeks which I understand is pretty early so I feel very lucky, it’s amazing how much reassurance it brings 😁 My 12 week scan was great, baby was upside down and full of life, it’s awesome seeing them for the first time, knowing that’s your baby and you’re going to meet them! Creating life is incredible to me, I just go about my life while he grows away inside me!

Other than this my first trimester was pretty uneventful thankfully, the nausea slowly went away and towards the second trimester I started to feel much better which was a welcome relief!!

Trimester 2, this one has been pretty smooth sailing, in fact so much so I feel quite lucky! Pregnancy has been kind to me… so far! Still all of my morning sickness disappeared at the start of this trimester which was wonderful! All of my midwife appointments have gone great, baby is doing wonderfully, I’ve felt him lots more during this trimester, he likes to sit really low and kick my cervix 😝 which can be pretty painful sometimes! We did have a bit of a scare though towards the end of Jan, I spent my birthday in hospital due to stomach pains, had to get 2 steroid shots in my bum as they were worried I may be going into early labour, I didn’t fortunately, I was 25 weeks when that happened I think I handled it quite well, though I wasn’t keen on staying in hospital but it was for the best. I had my whooping cough injection last week, I hate injections, but it was alright, the worst thing was it made my arm feel bruised for about 3 days after! But I think that was the last of my injections for this pregnancy… maybe! The best thing by far about this trimester though was feeling him move all the time, I love it, both in the reassuring sense and because it’s a constant reminder that I’m going to be a mommy!

And so today I am 28 weeks, officially in the third trimester guys! 12 weeks to go, I am excited and nervous all at the same time, we have so much to do and so much to look forward to!

Coming up this trimester I have a wonderful blood test! At least one that I am aware of, looking forward to that… not! I also have my baby shower in March which I am super excited for and by then I’ll only have 8 weeks left to go! Exciting times ahead!

A bump pic! Taken at 16 weeks, 19 weeks & 26 weeks!

Hearthstone!

So I recently got back into Hearthstone,Β what with all this free time I have after I’ve finished all my housework… Ok that’s probably not entirely true, it’s more a case of get up play some games of Hearthstone and then force myself to do the housework…

Anyway, it has been such a long time since I last played that all of my decks which were goodish are now crap and there have been so many card changes in the game since i last played that I am super behind, so the last few days i have been playing loads to try and up my gold ready for the new expansion when it comes out, no idea when that will be but it has been rumored so hopefully it’ll be soon and we all know when we get a new expansion we get cards to go with it, so the plan is save a ton of gold, get the expansion and some cards, be good again…. HA!

My favourite classes to play are definitely Mage and Paladin, these are what I played most when I used to play WoW… I’m a bit of a nerd you see and Blizzard make great games, what can I say!
Mage is also something I used to play a lot of in D&D, I like my blaster casters, they are so much fun to play, especially fire sorcerers… LOVE them!

I have been doing kinda Ok, I mean I’m not losing every single game, but, I’m also not winning every single game either, it’s still fun though, completing the quests, getting the gold etc. it’s a good time sink too, I can literally spend hours just playing game after game without realising, I guess that is the sign of a good game right?

Anyone got any good recommendations for games? I need some variety as much as I love Hearthstone!

Some pics from recent games playing Druid, a class I am starting to love πŸ˜€

I LOVE Tsum Tsums!!Β

Tsum Tsum’s are something I never thought I would get sucked into, I mean they’re just cuddly toys with no arms or legs right, bit weird, that’s what I thought when I first saw them…

Then they released Nightmare Before Christmas ones and I was sold… I absolutely love Nightmare Before Christmas, probably one of my favourite films ever! But yeah then it just sort of spiraled and now I have been well and truly sucked into them, they’re adorable!

This is my collection so far!

I also have one of the large ones of Stitch!

SO CUTE!

Meet The Sprog!

babyboy

Welcome to the family little dude!

About 14 weeks ago we got the biggest most unexpected surprise, we found out we were having a baby, we were scared and confused and generally just in shock, especially after what we had previously been through, for it to happen again so soon after was terrifying but I knew this time it was for real, there was no way I was going to give him up again!

I am now 22 +4 weeks pregnant and loving it, I think so far I’ve had a pretty easy ride, my bump is still tiny though, I was kind of expecting to be bigger by now but I guess everyone is different! The two pics above are from both of my ultrasounds, the one on the left is from 14 weeks and the one on the right is my most recent pic at 20 weeks, we decided pretty early on that we wanted to find out the gender and from then on the wait was excruciating, I needed to know! but we got there in the end, the 20 week scan was the Monday before Christmas so it was like a lovely little early present to ourselves, we had a bet going between us, I was convinced we were having a boy but OH thought we were having a girl…. I was right! my prize was his next days advent calendar chocolate!

So now we have the enormous task of picking the right name for him! My mom bought us a baby names book, it has literally hundreds of names in, how on earth are we supposed to pick one when there are so many good ones?! How do people narrow it down to one?!
We have also been given a ton of stuff for him… like how can such a tiny person need so much stuff?! my family have been nagging me for a list of things we will need so they can get us things but I don’t even know where to start, apart from the obvious, clothes, nappies, cot and pushchair!

So many things to do and only 18 weeks left to do them in! one of those things is going to be huge, we need to move house, currently we live in a smallish one bedroom flat, up a flight of stairs, not too keen on bringing him back here cause
1. getting him and the pushchair up and down the stairs is going to be a nightmare and
2. there is just not enough room, currently im keeping all of his stuff at my parents house as they fortunately have room to store it!

Cannot wait to meet our little dude and,Β I can say for sure that my 2017 is going to be better than 2016!

Global Games Jam Day 3: Tools Down!

That’s it guys, we are done! Games Jam 2016 is over for another year! We did good, very good!

I’m proud of our game it looks awesome and is fun, sadly we are missing a level as we ran out of time and couldn’t get it working, fortunately though we have two fully working levels and an awesome gameplay video πŸ˜ƒ
