Sunflowers!!

So it’s been less than a month I think since I planted my sunflowers, they are now biggish and we (me and my mom) finally got around to planting them in the garden last Sunday (23.04.17) I planted 75 seeds in trays and roughly half of them germinated, we then planted the 12 best ones in our garden, 6 red and 6 yellow! We still have some good looking ones left over which I will be giving to family, this is usually what I do when I plant a ton of seeds, cause who doesn’t love to be gifted Sunflowers!! 🌻🌻

Some got eaten by snails though as I’ve been keeping them outside in their pots so they can get the most of the nice sun we have been having!

Anyway, here are some pics of how they looked before we planted them in the ground!

And here are some pics of the ones we planted in the garden!

Sadly none of my dwarf red ones grew, not sure why, I did the same with them as with my others, I guess they were just dud seeds, was quite looking forward to seeing what those ones looked like as well, but nevermind, try again next year!

These giant ones though are supposed to grow up to 14ft… will be interesting to see how big they do grow and I will definitely post updates on them here too!

Enjoy 🌻🌻🌻

Spring Has Sprung! 🌻

Well almost… 6 Days!

I can’t wait, I am so done with the cold weather now, I’m ready for a bit of sun and warmth, also my baby will hopefully be a May baby and I am super ready for him to be here except for I’m not actually ready, I have literally nothing prepared, but hey I got like 5 to 10 weeks til he could decide to make an appearance, plenty of time right…

So anyway who else is excited for spring?

One of my favourite things about Spring is flowers, specifically Sunflowers, I am pretty sure I have posted about my love of Sunflowers before, but man do I love them, especially giant ones, they are so satisfying and easy to grow!! I haven’t grown any in about 3/4 years but this year I have decided that seeing as I am moving back to my parents house I will grow some again! I planted 72 seeds (a bit excessive I know) on the 6th of March, 24 Giant Red ones, 24 Giant Yellow ones and 24 red/yellow Dwarf ones, so far 18 have started growing, it took them roughly 5 days to start sprouting and I am super excited to see how they look when they flower which should be around May/June time I think, though don’t quote me on that as it has been a long time since I’ve grown them!

There are loads of other great things about Spring, here are some of my favourites:

  • The smell of freshly cut grass
  • Baby animals (especially ducks)
  • Sunshine
  • Warmth
  • Flowers
  • Everywhere starts to look more alive again
  • Easter!!

Hayfever however is a bit of a downside to spring and summer but hey you gotta take the good with the bad right…

Here are some pics of my freshly sprouting baby Sunflowers for your viewing pleasure!

These are them when I first planted them on the 6th of March.

And these are them today on the 14th of March there are 18 in these pics, though it may be quite hard to see them all as the picture quality isn’t great.

If all of these Sunflowers grow I am going to have soo many! I tend to give them away to family and friends though when I grow loads like this because there is no way they would all fit in my parents garden!

Anyone else have a favourite plant to grow during Spring/Summer?

Oh What A Lovely Day!

Sup Guys!

What a lovely day today has been! It’s been sunny and warm and clear skies all day! Been a bit of a busy one as well πŸ˜€

Started the day with a fairly early morning, for me at least πŸ˜› and went with my mom to pick my sister up, she’s come home for a few days to go to Download Festival on Saturday, she’s just going for the day to see Muse, I’m pretty jealous, I would have loved to have gone but, I can’t afford it so it will have to wait til next year I think πŸ˜› we then took a trip to the local garden centre with my mom, it’s like the third time I’ve been this week, pretty sure she loves the place, but hey I got to look at the snakes… One day! One day I will buy myself a snake! I love them they are just so cute and cool πŸ˜€

After that we came home and just chilled in the garden, I got a bit sunburnt, silly of me I know but ah well Nevermind!

I gave my plants a long overdue trim, and stole and repotted four of my moms sunflower seedlings, normally I grow my own but I completely forgot this year and now I’m feeling sad I don’t have any of my own to grow, so naturally the only option I had was to steal some of my moms! πŸ˜€ I’ll do a pic post tomorrow of all my plants!

I also discovered today that one of my cacti has sunburn…. How does a cactus get sunburn…. It’s a desert plant, nonetheless I have moved it out of the sun and into the shade til it recovers πŸ™‚

We also discovered a really cool bug in the garden today….

According to my Aunt it is a lily beetle and it likes to eat the leaves on lilies, which inevitably kills the plant… kinda sad really cause it is very cool and unusual looking πŸ˜€ I’ve never seen one before!

We also went out for dinner tonight, I had a nice cheeseburger and chips, nothing adventurous πŸ˜› I like habit! and then we went to a really nice pub/restaurant called Turpins, it was pretty swanky, I’ve never been before and it made a nice change than going to our usual place, gets a bit boring when you go to the same pub all the time πŸ˜›

Now I’m home, in my PJ’s and just about ready to get into bed, I’m so damn tired! must be all the sun…. or I’m getting old, I’m not sure πŸ˜›

Anyway, hope you guys all had a great day and I shall see you tomorrow!

I’m off to bed, Goodnight!

Introducing……… Polygon Horse!!

Sup guys, hows it going?

Been a while I know but I’ve been super busy with deadlines and stuff.

Anyway, I have more work to show you!

This is a game that me and my friend Nick made, it was for one of my modules at uni and he helped me with it πŸ˜€

Introducing Polygon Horse, it’s a 2D infinite runner platform game!!

We made it in the Unity engine, the assets were sourced cause sadly I’m not that good at creating pretty art =P and of course the music was sourced as well. You are a pretty looking pink horse spreading colour through the lands, you have to rescue the girls to get points and pick up the flowers to get more life, but as you spread colour you slowly fade this is why you need to pick up the flowers so that you can continue your epic journey to once again bring colour to the world!!

I will probably work on this game over summer and make it better, we have a couple of ideas for improvements so, hopefully I’ll get some of them done then I’ll show you guys an updated version πŸ˜€

Enjoy, let me know what you think guys!

My Plants! =D

Sup Guys!

Today I thought I would share with you some pics of my plants =D I grow Carnivorous plants and Sunflowers, though this year I haven’t grown any Sunflowers, not sure why I think I just kinda forgot, but they are probably my favourite flowers, they’re so bright and beautiful, I love to grow the really tall ones but I like the small ones as well, I haven’t grown any of them yet though but I have a plan to cross small red ones with the giant yellow ones and then hopefully I will end up with giant red ones! that would be awesome =D

As for carnivorous plants, the types i grow mainly are Venus Fly Traps and Sarracenias, I also grow Nepenthes, Heliamphora and Sundews but the majority of my collection is Sarracenia and Venus Fly Trap =) I grow them cause they are a lot of fun and they are very different, I also have a couple of Cactus’ and some Lithops, I think its fair to say that I enjoy the weird and wonderful plants =D

So here are some pics of my plants! =D

Quite a few pics it would seem, but I figured putting them in a gallery was better than trying to add them all individually!

Hope you guys enjoy this post and I shall see you all tomorrow! Possibly in a hungover state, hope you all have a good Friday night!

Christmas Came Early!

Today was a crazy busy day in my house! We had lots of parcels arrive and I’m sure you can all guess what one of them was!!!

I GOT MY NEW PC TODAY!!!! Incase you couldn’t tell, when it arrived I felt like a kid at Christmas, I was desperately looking for the quickest way into the box, I managed to find a pair of scissors and get into the box and it was awesome! It looks so amazing, me and Nick hooked it up to my screen and the picture is beautiful, we started downloading some of the program’s I need this afternoon but I still have quite a few to do, I’m most looking forward to using UE4 on it, it’s gunna look amazing!!!!

That is my beautiful PC! I kinda feel like a traitor to my laptop, but there was no avoiding it, I needed to get a new PC, something that is powerful enough to run the software I need…

Our new bee house that I ordered on Sunday arrived today! That was exciting too, we put it out in the garden next to our other one in the hope that the bees will use it quite quickly. It looks nice and is double sided, hopefully that won’t put the bees off using it but is it does we will put a makeshift back on it!

Our new bee house! Looks pretty smart doesn’t it, now I need to pick some flowers to plant up for the bees =D if anyone has any suggestions feel free to share them with me =D

Hope you guys enjoyed this post!

See you all tomorrow.

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday Guys!

I hope everyone had a good weekend!

It was another really hot day today and mine and Nicks first day of dog sitting =D we took the pooches for a walk this morning but it was only a short one cause of how hot it was, didn’t wanna dehydrate them or ourselves =) pretty sure that my ankles have been bitten to death cause they itch like crazy!

We then spent the rest of the day relaxing and watching TV, the Chelsea Flower Show started today and will be on all week, I have watched it religiously for the past 3 or 4 years, mostly since I started keeping plants of my own, I like to see all the interesting and pretty gardens that they have on there as well as all the beautiful flowers, but the main thing I watch it for is to see the Carnivorous Plants display, seeing that is always my favourite bit =D one day hopefully ill be able to go and actually visit the Chelsea Flower Show and see it all in person!

Tomorrow should be a good day, I have my driving lesson at 2pm which I am really looking forward to and I also had an email, text and phone call to tell me that my new PC will be delivered tomorrow!! I am super excited for that to get here, my inner nerd is in heaven right now, it’ll be like my christmas and birthday all in one when it arrives, I’ll share a pic of my new baby with you all tomorrow and no doubt I’ll ramble on about how awesome it is =P

Oooh also a little update on our bee house, we only have 11 un-sealed holes left! Once all the bees are done I’m gonna count how many there actually are so I have some kind of reference, the new one should hopefully be here by Wednesday and it will get put up straight away!

I am off to bed now guys, hope you all enjoyed this post and you all had a great weekend!

I shall see you all tomorrow!

Zero To Hero Day 22: A Word A Week Challenge…….Yellow!

So today’s challenge was to break the confines of Zero To Hero and participate in another challenge, I have spent ages trying to pick a good challenge to take part in, but I have finally found one that sounds like fun, I will probably carry on doing this challenge as it will allow me to share more photos and other interesting things with you guys!

So here is a quick description of the challenge:Β “Once a week I will dip into my old English Oxford dictionary and pick a word on the page that it falls open at.Β  The challenge is to post a photograph, poem, story – whatever the genre you like best to describe of what that word means to you.”
Here is a link to the challenge page if you guys would like to have a look or maybe even take part!!

A Word A Week Photography Challenge 2014

Sunflowers, one of my favourite plants!

This is one of about 8 Sunflowers that I grew myself, I love Sunflowers they are one of my favourite plants, I have grown them every year for the past 5 years, last year I think I had about 50, the seeds from my previous ones had fell into the soil, we thought they were no good so we left them, then summer came around and all these little Sunflower shoots started poking their heads up through the soil, I kept about 10 of them and gave the rest away to family and friends!

Hope you enjoyed this post!

See you for tomorrows challenge.
